Market Brief on themakgroup.ca · Last updated: 7 October 2026
In Short
We ask for a few details so we can tailor your brief, send it to you and follow up on it. We never sell them, and we delete them when you ask.
What We Collect
- About your company: its name, website, industries, what you sell, who buys it, how you sell and where you sell today.
- What we read on your company's public website, to pre-fill the form and tailor the brief.
- About you: your name, work email and phone number, and your consent.
- The brief we prepare for you.
- Technical details needed to keep the service safe: your IP address and a bot check result.
Why We Use It
- To prepare your brief and email you a link to it, which also confirms the address is yours.
- To contact you about your brief and how MAK could help, if you wish.
- To limit free briefs per email and per company, and to keep robots out.
We use your details only for these purposes. Ticking the consent box is how you agree to them; you can withdraw your consent at any time.
Who Handles It With Us
We work with a few service providers, bound by their own privacy commitments, who handle data on our behalf:
- HubSpot, our customer relationship system, which keeps your contact details and request.
- Cloudflare, which hosts this tool, runs the bot check and keeps your brief and the free-brief counts.
- Microsoft 365, which sends the email with your brief.
- Jina AI, a reading service that may fetch your company's public web pages. It receives only your website address.
Some of these providers store data outside Québec, including in the United States. We have assessed these transfers and chosen providers that protect personal information adequately.
How Long We Keep It
- Your brief and its link: 90 days.
- While a MAK team member checks your brief before it is sent: your name and email are kept with it, and removed once it is sent (at most 90 days).
- Free-brief counts: 12 months.
- Your contact record: for as long as it serves the follow-up on your request, or until you ask us to delete it.
Your Rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, withdraw your consent, or receive a copy of what you provided. Write to us and we will answer within 30 days.
